Speaking of the G-Scale Trains... Did you know that the trains running on the north side of Clark Gardens Depot replicate the Weatherford-Mineral Wells and Northwestern Railroad? This railroad was an important part of the railway system from Dallas to West Texas. The Weatherford-Mineral Wells and Northwestern Railroad's first train arrived in Mineral Wells January 1, 1891 and eventually went on to Seymour by connecting with the Gulf Texas and Western Railroad. Read more about the history of the WMWNW. The trains delight both the young and the young at heart. The staff at Clark Gardens extends a special thanks to two very active volunteers - Pete Dahlberg and Paul Valentine. They give countless hours to the gardens ensuring the trains are running at peak performance. |

The Nature Challenge
This summer, Clark Gardens is participating in the DFW Nature Challenge. The project, coordinated by the Texas Agrilife Extension Agency, Texas Forest Service and the Trinity River Audubon Society, was inspired by the book Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv.
Participants are encouraged to visit nature centers, zoos, and botanical parks completing a "mission" at each facility. Each participating organization has a family friendly activity which encourages exploration and learning.
At Clark Gardens you will become a "Pollinator Detective." Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go undercover to find five pollinators, discover what they eat, where they live and look for their offspring. Your mission documents are available online and also at our Admissions booth. Upon completion of your mission, you will receive a "Mission Accomplished" sticker.
In August families will turn in their journals and the family with the most missions accomplished will win a prize. It's a great way to get your family outdoors. All of our guests are welcome to participate in this challenge.
