BOOtanical - A BOOst to Food Banks Halloween BOOtanical Success StoryBOOtanical Festival was amazing this year thanks to over 100 volunteers who came out to support the festival. Over 1400 people attended the festival. As in the past two years, admission to BOOtanical was nonperishable food items to be donated to our area food banks. Through the generous donations of our guests food items were donated to the three area food banks: First United Methodist Church, First Christian Church and the New Haven Ministries. Most of our summer annuals are still in bloom when suddenly the temperatures begin to drop and fall color pops! BOOTANICAL HALLOWEEN FUN AND FOOD DRIVE

| BOOtanical Park October 31, 2010 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
On October 31st, Clark Gardens becomes BOOtanical Park - a marvelously fun and safe place for kids of all ages to enjoy Halloween. The BOOtanical is also a time we participate in a community-wide food drive benefiting our three area food banks in Mineral Wells: First Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, and New Haven Ministries. Bring a non-perishable food item as a donation and you receive free admission to our Halloween festivities on October 31st. There were more than 1,200 visitors who attended BOOtanical last year and filled three pickup trucks with food for the food banks. This year's BOOtanical promises to be even better. There will be: - Activities designed for children 12 and under.

- Games
- Ghostly Movies
- Pet Costume Contest
- People Costume Contest
- DJ Music
- Food & beverages.

| Crape Myrtle"The Lilac of the South"Dynamite Crape Myrtle | Crape Myrtles are a popular choice for gardeners. They require very little maintenance and provide beautiful color in the heat of the summer. Crape Myrtles are most popular in the south, gaining the nickname the lilac of the south, but are enjoyed by gardeners across the country. Their scientific term, Lagerstroemia, was coined in 1759 in order to honor Magnus von Lagerstroem, an avid naturalist. The common name in America, Crape Myrtle, is derived from the crape-like appearance of the flower. The Crape Myrtle was introduced to Charleston, South Carolina from China and Korea, in the late 1700's by the French botanist Andre Michaux. Today there is a crape myrtle to fill every landscape need, from specimen type trees to fast growing dwarf types. | Dear Friends, As Thanksgiving approaches the staff at Clark Gardens is thankful to our many friends and supporters of the gardens. Our membership and volunteer program has grown in both numbers and strengths. In 2010 we will celebrate our 10th anniversary. This would not have been possible without your support. Thank you!
BOOtanical Festival saw a record number of attendees. Over 1200 people attended the festival. The admission fee to enjoy the Halloween fun was a nonperishable food item. Through the generous donations of our guests, food items were donated to the three area food banks, First United Methodist Church, First Christian Church and the New Haven Ministries. All three food banks are grateful for the donations.

HALLOWEEN FUN AT THE CLARK GARDENS BOOTANICAL PARK

Halloween evening at the BOOtanical Gardens was a great success with well over 1,000 people attending. Three pickups full of much needed nonperishable food was shared between 3 local food banks. Thank you to all who made this evening possible and successful. | Dear Friends,
Clark Gardens is participating in a community-wide food drive benefiting our area food banks. Bring a non-perishable food item as a donation and you will receive free admission to our Halloween festivities on October 31st. Donations will be accepted at the Admissions Office. We look forward to enjoying the evening with you and thank you for your support.
