One of the smaller evergreen shrubs is the Mahonia bealei, commonly called the leather leaf mahonia. It is a member of the barberry family. It grows to be about 4-6 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. CLARK GARDENS AUGUST 2009 NEWSLETTER
posted by admin at 8:03 || under Monthly Newsletters
This summer has flown by. June's Music and Art Festival was an amazing experience for the Gardens. The nights were beautiful all be it a little warm. Our first night we were serenaded under a full moon. Totally cool. We thank the bands, musicians, sound guys and David Adams. David booked the bands for the event and he did a great job.
Fall will soon be here. I know this because I watched the first preseason football game last night. We look forward to the season change; hopefully more rain and much cooler temperatures. The guys in the Gardens continue to work nine hour days, including Max. I don't know how they do so, but I do appreciate and admire them for their diligence and conviction. Thanks to them the Garden is just as beautiful in August in 105 degrees as it was in May in 90 degrees. ...
