and deciding what you really want. The ideas and options can be overwhelming! I mean you
only get to do this once so why not cram every cool idea you've seen into one event...right?
If you take a serious look at weddings you love from magazines and blogs you will notice
that they pick a few exceptional, fresh, unique ideas and do those things really well.
I've never seen a wedding featured in a magazine that has incorporated every current
trend.
It is best to start with your location and create your theme around what is already
there. If your location is a historic site you do not want to incorporate modern, urban
décor. If your location is a hotel ballroom shabby chic décor and muted color tones are
going to look cheesy. Make it easy on yourself and your budget and work with the
location you have--not against it.
The nice thing about an outdoor or garden wedding is that the majority of décor is
already done! Use the location as your backdrop for décor and instead spend your budget on
trendy additions for guests such as a coffee bar, photo booth, welcome baskets, etc. Add
small splurges (like gorgeous menu cards, napkins made from funky fabric prints,
exquisite desserts) rather than huge overpowering centerpieces. Both pictures below are great examples of minimalist decor, maximum impact.

Some of my favorite inspiration blogs for outdoor weddings are www.stylemepretty.com and
www.weddingchicks.com. Both stay current on trends while showing real weddings with real
budgets. And of course a visit to Clark Gardens can always provide a huge dose of
inspiration!
